Ms. Paulo is a lecturer and research associate in the Department of ‘International Political Economy of East Asia’ at the Faculty of East Asian Studies. In 2021, Ms Paulo became Head of Management of the Centre for EU-Asia Connectivity (CEAC), a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, at Ruhr-Universität of Bochum (RUB), Germany.

In addition to academia, she is a listed foreign Arbitrator/Mediator at the Shanghai International Arbitration Center and a Senior Consultant at A&Z Law Firm. She also is a member of the OECD’s “Expert Community on Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT)” supporting the OECD’s Digital Policy Committee (DPC).

Her expertise is proven by more than fifteen years of research work, government relations, legal industry, business internationalisation, and communication between Asia, Europe, and LATAM. Ms. Paulo possesses broad international experience, having worked in several countries (China, Indonesia, India, Belgium, Germany, Panama, and Venezuela) across a variety of industries, namely universities, the private sector, NGOs, as well as EU institutions (European Commission) and international organisations (UNHCR).

Ms. Paulo is a member of several research organisations and business associations. She is regularly invited to deliver lectures at different universities, to speak at international events, and to consult and provide bespoke training for companies and government agencies on EU-Asia cross-border investments, regulation, negotiations, and intercultural issues.

Ms. Paulo holds a Master’s degree in Political and Administration of the European Union from the College of Europe, three Bachelor’s degrees, and postgraduate studies from the School of Economics, Fudan University (China), and Chinese Mandarin language at Peking University.
