Study in the People's Republic of China

Tongji University, Shanghai

In 1979, Ruhr University and Tongji University in Shanghai entered into the first partnership between universities in the then Federal Republic of Germany and the People's Republic of China. The total of 8 semester places at Tongji University are allocated by the International Office of the Ruhr University: https://international.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/en/study-abroad-asia.

In addition to a waiver of tuition fees, applicants can apply for a monthly grant of 100 euros and a free place in a student residence at Tongji University. Stays of 1-2 semesters are possible; the application deadline for the following academic year is always December 1 of the previous year.

Fudan University, Shanghai

As part of an agreement between the Faculty of East Asian Studies at Ruhr University and the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIPRA) at Fudan University in Shanghai, 2-3 study places for one to two semesters will be available each year from 2019. There are no tuition fees. More information on the application procedure for this program can be found on the website of the Department of International Political Economy of East Asia.
