The M.A. subject Korean Studies can only be studied in the two-subject model, i.e. it is combined with another subject from this model that is not offered by the Faculty of East Asian Studies. Students who wish to complete further East Asian Studies courses in addition to focusing on Korean Studies can choose the M.A. East Asian Studies (OAW) in the single-subject model. The standard period of study in both cases is four semesters.
Admission requirements are language skills to the extent of the B.A. program in Korean Studies at Ruhr University Bochum: This includes a good knowledge of contemporary Korean as well as basic knowledge of written Classical Chinese and Middle Korean.
