As a student of the Faculty of East Asian Studies at Ruhr University Bochum, you have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad or an exchange year at one of the following universities in South Korea. All exchange places are allocated by the International Office of Ruhr University Bochum, which coordinates the application for places and the selection of Ruhr University Bochum candidates.
The long-standing cooperation with Ewha Womans University in Seoul provides for the sending of four Korean Studies / East Asian Studies students each year. The offer for students includes Korean language courses as well as other courses (taught in English or Korean).
The cooperation agreement with Soongsil University in Seoul has been in place since 2010. This is a subject-specific exchange between Korean Studies in Bochum and German Studies at the partner university, so that students of Korean Studies here can benefit from this exchange program in a special way. Every year, two study places are awarded to Korean Studies students.
The exchange program with Sogang University, one of the most renowned universities in Korea, was established in 2011. As part of the cooperation agreement, two study places are awarded annually to students from the respective parter university.
In 2003, a partnership was established between Ruhr University Bochum and Kyungpook National University. Since then, two study places have been awarded each year to Ruhr University Bochum students from all disciplines.
