Department Japanese History

The Department History of Japan offers all those interested in the historical development of Japan and its impact on the present the opportunity to engage in research and teaching on a wide range of topics across the ages. There is a certain focus on the early modern and modern period (from around 1600), but other periods, from prehistory and early history to the Middle Ages, are also included in the study of Japan. Research focuses on social, economic, political and religious history.
